Dosa Kitchen

What is it?

A South Indian canteen restaurant which is tucked away behind Osborne Road in Jesmond, Dosa Kitchen dishes out a melting pot of authentic gorgeousness which you will want to return to again and again.

The staff, who are as lovely as the grub they serve up, say their mission is simple: “We want to deliver the best dosas, serve up the most delicious tiffin, and bring some of South India’s culinary gems to the good people of the North East…”

And they’re going to get zero arguments from anyone here.

Why is it smashing?

After successfully whetting people’s appetite as a pop up fixture in a Westgate Road community centre, the Dosa Kitchen has found a perfect permanent home – and it’s never short of hungry visitors.

From Masala Vadacurry and Cauliflower Paal to Chill Idli and the coconut custard treat which is Watalappam, there is a production line of beautiful food which never doesn’t delight.

And we haven’t even mentioned the namesake Dosas – light pancakes filled with a the tastiest of curried fillings. Oh my.

With a boatload of veggie and vegan options on the menu, and a regular Sunday Sapaad feast to boot, this place ticks boxes left, right, centre and sideways. Oh, and the newly unveiled tippee tent for outdoor dining is as welcoming as they come.
