What is it?
Well, according to their strapline, it’s ‘your place for clean and healthy eating’. But we like to think of our go-to eating out spot for tummy-pleasing food and drink which doesn’t leave you feeling like this week’s resolution to eat the good stuff has once again slipped and fallen on its greasy little face.
Tasty incarnations of whole and natural state foods are the order of every day at The Naked Deli, which currently has four Tyneside outlets – a mother ship in Gosforth; smaller offsprings in Heaton and Grey Street in the city centre and a new one inside Newcastle Airport’s departure lounge (although the last of these is currently closed thanks to Covid).
Why is it smashing?
For starters, if you’re eating in, it’s a really lovely place to spend some time. An atmosphere friendly calm has been crafted – we can only assume that this is what comes when you strip all the processed and chemical stuff away.
And the food. Oh the food. Knocking the belief that for food to be good, it has to be bad into an organically-seasoned cocked hat, we literally never get bored of eating here. From smoothie bowls and full on English breakfasts to a crowd of substantial main dishes, via sweet jacket potatoes and generous deli salads, the menu really does spoil you for choice. And don’t get us started on the sweet treats and the fresh juices…
