What is it?
A brand new old pub on the Quayside, that looks like a setting from Get Carter, but where the furniture doesn’t predate the smoking ban so you can fall asleep in one of the comfy armchairs without getting asthma, and where the solid wood tables are clean enough to eat your dinner off… which you’ll want to do once you cop an eyeful of the award winning food on offer.
Why is it smashing?
The Broad Chare does what it calls ‘proper pub food’, but don’t be expecting to see Betty’s famous Hotpot on the menu. Classics like fish pie and steak & chips compete for blackboard space with more niche options like duck sausage rolls served with celeriac & prune ketchup.
