What is it?
One of the oldest and most beloved pubs in Newcastle, The Free Trade Inn serves up an ever-changing crowd of real and craft ales and ciders – many of which are brewed in the North East. There’s a canny range of house wines too. It’s a firm favourite for locals and quickly becomes one for visitors.
Why is it smashing?
Boasting the kind of shabbiness which only comes from genuine wear, tear and late nights spent putting the world to rights over a pint or five, the Free Trade is the pub equivalent of your favourite jumper. With added alcohol possibilities and one of the best views of Newcastle and Gateshead knitted right in.
You’ll also want to keep an eye on regular pop up food offers from guests such as the Scream for Pizza gang and the BBQ Cab Co, who usually rock up on Fridays.
